There is a correction to the pattern that starts on the right hand of the first page beneath “Row 2 – purl.” Start there by replacing with these corrections, continuing to replace all directions until the second side, left-hand column just before “Next k…” in very last paragraph:
Row 3- k 1, *inc, slip marker, inc*, rep at each marker, k 2. You will have increased 8 times in this row.
Row 4- purl.
Row 5- inc, *k to within 1 st of next marker, inc, slip marker, inc*, rep at each marker, k to last st, inc. You will have increased 10 times in this row.
Repeat these last 2 rows until there are 34 (36, 39, 42) sts between the back markers (these are the second and third markers that you placed).
At the end of this last increase row, cast on 10 (11, 11, 12) sts.
Next row- k 5, p to the end of this row, cast on 10 (11, 11, 12) sts.
Next row- inc, *k to within 1 st of next marker, inc, slip marker, inc*, rep at each marker, k to last st, inc. You will have increased 10 times in this row.
Next row- k 5, p to 5 sts before end of row, k 5.
Next row- (buttonhole row) k 3, yo, k 2 tog, *k to within 1 st of marker, inc, slip marker, inc*, rep at each marker, k to end of row. You will have increased 8 times in this row.
Next row- k 5, p to 5 sts before end of row, k 5.
Next row- *k to within 1 st of marker, inc, slip marker, inc*, rep at each marker, k to end of row. You will have increased 8 times in this row.
Repeat the last 2 rows until there are 48 (54, 63, 68) sts between the back markers, ending after working the purl row.
Divide for sleeves –
K to first marker, remove it (you will be removing all old markers as you work this row), k 1. Now using a blunt darning needle and scrap yarn, slip all the sts between here and the next marker onto a length of yarn to hold for the left sleeve. Cast onto the right tip of the needle 3 (4, 4, 5) sts, place a marker, cast on 4 (4, 5, 5) sts and join to the back sts. ( This marker will be the beginning of the round after you join the work into a round later.)
K across the back sts to the next marker, k 1, slip all the sts between here and the next marker onto a length of yarn to hold for the right sleeve. Cast on 7 (8, 9, 10) sts and join to front sts. K to end of row.
Next row- k 5, p to 5 sts before end of row, k 5.
You will have one marker in your work, in the center of the cast on sts at the underarm.
Joining row-
Next row- k to within 5 sts of end of row, slip the last 5 sts to a double point needle, place behind the first 5 sts on the other end of the needle to overlap, being careful not to twist the work. Knit the last 5 sts along the first 5, joining work into a round. K to marker.
