Auburn Needleworks in Auburn, CA, is hosting a finishing workshop by Diane Soucy from 10-4:00.

Do you hate finishing?? Nothing is sadder than a beautifully knitted sweater spoiled by messy finishing. This class covers all aspects of finishing, beginning with selecting the correct yarn and needles, selectingthe correct size, to measuring gauge, weaving in ends, binding off, and sewing up. Includes blocking,button bands, sewing in zippers, making buttonholes and making neat collars. Students should be advanced beginners.

Class will be given in the new class area at the new location!

If you are an beginner to intermediate knitter and have never tried socks, this is the workshop for you.

Socks are at the top of every knitter’s list of favorite projects: Quick to make, highly portable, and usually only requiring a ball of yarn or two, it’s easy to see why knitters love them.

In this fun workshop you will learn basic sock construction for a top down sock, for beginning sock knitters. You will learn how to turn the heel, shape a gusset and toe on a sock of any weight and gauge.

You will learn how to make your socks fit perfectly, no matter who they are for, and no matter what pattern you use. You will learn how to design your own sock if you want.

The following paragraph replaces the first paragraph in the second column of the back page.

It will be helpful at this point to lay the sweater out on a flat surface to see that you will do the next step at the correct place.

Next row- k to end of row, cast on 24 (24, 26, 26, 28, 28) sts for back neck edge.

Now beginning at the neck edge of other front, knit across those sts.

There will be 114 (118, 124, 128, 138, 142) sts.

K even on these sts until there are 57 (61, 61, 61, 66, 66) ridges on the sleeve.

Next 2 rows- bind off 34 (34, 34, 34, 36, 36) sts, k to end of row.

You will have 46 (50, 56, 60, 66, 70) sts.

K 3 rows. Bind off loosely.
